Now the project is starting to take form I want to explore what this could be. The intersection between where physical refugees, striving for people to know who they are, and digital refugees, striving for digital anonymity, is where the project lies. Marrying these two ideas together the initial thought is to have Ibiza as an island refugee city. A temporary space in which refugees arriving from the Med can be safe. Whilst the culture of 'holiday clubbing' is dying these party islands need another purpose.
But what scale do I want this island to be? In order to make a decision I researched refugee statistics and Ibiza's potential population
